“I booked the canoe trip down the River on Valentines day because I thought it was something different and I had driven over and walked beside the River so many times but never been on it. I had no idea that such a magical experience was about to unfold. Darren and his team were professional, courteous and well organised and I knew as soon as the well decorated and appointed Canoe slipped into the River we were in for something special. It was so peaceful on the River, we could hear people doing the dishes in their houses and it was hard to believe we were in the middle of a large city. You could see so much that is missed with driving and walking. The platter of fine food was delicious as was the well chosen wine. Darren was informative and interesting yet we hardly knew he was there. We received a standing ovation from the decks of the passing Waipa Delta and my partner still talks about how romantic it was to this day. I would love to do the trip again and thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants toexperience a truly unique Hamilton Treasure in an unforgettable way.”

“I’ve lived in Hamilton for nearly ten years and have seen all over Hamilton except the “Mighty Waikato River” seeing it from the middle is so much better then watching it from the banks or bridges. We paddled our canoe at our own time and where we wanted to go. We saw alot of things that you don’t normally see, we missed our final destination but just kept going. Darren picked us up farther down the river. We loved it, Next time, just me and my husband are going Twilight. Our daughter Faith just loved it too.”

"Canoeing down the Waikato River was one of the most amazing experiences my wife and I have experienced thus far, it was so relaxing and such a professional setting and environment provided by Wiseway Adventures. It was the most outstanding river experience we have ever had."

“Our trip down the river was absolutely priceless; I had the opportunity to have my two daughters and my granddaughter with me and they thoroughly enjoyed every moment. One particular experience I had was when my 4 yr old granddaughter said, "papa they're beating us", (referring to our friends in another canoe) my reply was "thats because your not rowing enough" the comment that came out of her mouth would be one I would never forget, she said, "oh sorry papa" and started rowing faster but getting in the way in the process. This was the first time my girls had been canoeing and an adventure we would never forget."

“The initial experience for our friends was one of terror as we edged our way out from the bank and into the flow of the river, but those feeling of terror quickly subsided when they realized that they were not going to die, they were soon laughing for almost the entire journey down the river. Jodie, Cherrie and Moe especially loved the serentiy and beauty of hte river and flora that abounded on each side that had beautiful homes nestled within, which was so indicative of New Zealand's beauty and we cruised for minutes at at ime just soading it all in. We had an experience that exceeded all expectations."

“April 4th 2008 the evening my husband and I were asked to keep free and to wrap up warm, this was a surprise from our daughter for our wedding anniversary and a night we will never forget. Have you ever been treated so royally? This was how we were treated. Picked up at 5:45pm in a well manicured limousine, by a lovely, friendly woman who produced a red box tied with a black bow. This she assured us was part of the evening and all that was inside was ours. This turned out to be a picnic hamber with sushi, crackers, camembert, sparkling grape juice and a 2 long stemmed champagne glasses. At the bottom of Grantham St we stopped and there by the side of the river with a red and white striped umbrella rocked our transport for the next hour. A lovely Native American shaped canoe with the paddler. This was our treat, a Romantic Trip down the Waikato River at twilight. With laughter and photos being taken we left the shore and started down the stream. Even though the town was in a rush and noise the sounds barely touched us as we were guided by Darren who kept us informed of historical facts as we glided down the mighty Waikato River. There was a lot of just listening and feeling the history of the river, of the majesty of our surrounds. An hour under four bridges later we came to rest at the river road landing. Here our trip ended, if we had our way we would have liked to hae kept on going, darkness was descending and this was the end of our trip. We found out there are longer trips and even family groups, with this in mind we will be definitely looking at another trip with Wiseway Adventures. This was a night to be remembered and one that is good for young and old alike. Thank you Wiseway Adventures for a memorable experience."

“We are a family of four, 2 children aged 9 & 12. We took a two hour unquided trip down the Might Waikato River, it was an inspiring experience with the river taking on a very majestic appeal as you are paddling along cruising from shore to shore taking in the surrounding scenery. The peace and quiet right insdie the bustling city is what really amazed us, and the journey was no effort at all cruising with the current down river. WIth my partner and daughter in one canoe and me and my son in the other, the trip was lots of fun, chasing and following each other to our pickup point. The kids had a wonderful time paddling and enjoying a great afternoon out on the river. Darren offers a great service with much needed tuition before embarking on the trip, as well as neccessary safety equipment and water proof storage for our gear. We all felt very safe, up to speed and in control as we headed off by ourselves."

"Later I was also lucky enough to go on a spear fishing trip with Wiseway Adventures too! The massive size of the Koi Carp in the river astounded me. The multicoloured fish were congregating in the shallows, basking in the summer sun and the warm water. Pity my aim was so shocking, but the fish were there for the taking. The trip is quite different going up river that it is going down. You can feel the power of the river fighting you, and it sure gets the arms working. We would highly recommend both trips to anyone who likes beautiful scenery, peach and quiet, and the chance to get away from it all, right here in Hamilton City itself. Thanks again Wiseway Adventures for the wonderful experiences."
